I got a new book in the mail, just in time for a bit of weekend reading. Over the past few months I have been repeatedly inspired to learn to embroider. Crewelwork has been of particular interest to me and I am often drawn to the fuzzy, vintage wool embroidery thread I find at the thrift shop. I really enjoy the depth that embroidering with wool creates.
I had been shopping on Amazon the other day for my favorite Green Tea and Lime shampoo and needed to spend a few more dollars to get free shipping. While browsing the craft books I came upon “The New Crewel” by Katherine Shaughnessy.I have yet to thread the needle and actually get to work, but the diagrams are clear and easy to follow for a beginner like me. There is even a bit of history of crewelwork in the beginning of the book, which is an interesting read, and if I hadn’t been inspired to learn before, that tapestry you see below would have been enough all by itself.
Have a great weekend everyone. Enjoy yourselves, what ever you do.
